ooc; for eagle and brightkit.
He was alone, just like he liked it. Owlkit had always like the secret little room, particularly the pool that was tucked in the corner of it. It had soft pillow edges and a bright blue coloring, brighter than he'd ever seen in a liquid. The walls around the tiny kit shimmered with the pool's light; some even danced across Owlkit's own little face. His light crystal eyes were wide with awe as he watched the reflections unfurl over the soil like a thick ribbon of water, and then shrink back again, only to repeat it's previous actions. Even the pool itself seemed to bleed starlight and comet tails and Yarrow's dreams. The surface of it was like a smooth, slick glass - a one way mirror - you can see through it, but the people on the other side could not see you. "It's stunning," the kit thought, getting to his paws and slowly walking to the pool's shallow lip.
Owlkit saw himself in the water, splintered into distorted pieces. Parts of his face were jagged and off-center; his legs looked more like long scars of milk in the liquid. His eyes blended in, mixing with the blues, swirling and curling like smoke. In a way, this made fear twist around his heart, cobra-like and strangling. He knew eyes were the window to the soul - did that mean he had none? Owlkit bit his lip and leaned closer, the smell of nature wafting up his nose. The vision pool's house smelled like worms and very faintly of mystery, which if you didn't know is a sweet, though dry sort of scent. When he was closer, things sharpened up a bit and the creamy kit was almost able to make out his eyes; two silvers of a charocal pupil. The fear loosened it's grip, but a new seed of thought was planted into Owlkit's mind: was it possible to have only part of a soul, or get placed with the wrong one? Did Yarrow make a mistake when he inserted Owlkit's soul into his body?
"He must have," he thought; because sometimes, Owlkit's skin felt scratchy and too small, like parts of him were trickling out his mouth or ears and bleeding onto the ground. His paws always felt too heavy and his chest too light. Did he loose part of his heart, did all the soul rush to his feet? Curious, the kit picked up one of his front paws and swung in through the air, then picked up the opposite and did it again. He couldn't help but notice that the left one felt heavier. If he cut open this paw, would all the soul come spilling out like a silvery ocean? Owlkit blinked and slowly placed a foot into the vision pool, watching the mysterious water envelop his limb. It felt like regular water, except for the fact that it sent lightning tingles down his spine and it reminded him, oddly, of wintertime; thin and cool.
